REGISTRATIONS OPEN: Nature and Glass Workshop @ Cam Ocagi-The Glass Furnace, Turkey
This course is designed for beginners, as well as those with previous experience. Set in the heart of the Turkish countryside, 40 minutes outside of Istanbul, the Cam Ocaği-Glass Furnace glass school is a state of the art facility. Boasting stylish modern accommodation, the facility is complete with a swimming pool adjacent to the hot shop,so you can take a plunge at the end of the day! Enjoy being immersed in Turkish culture, country side and glass until it’s coming out of your ears, or take it a bit easier, watch the masters at work, sip drinks by the pool and indulge in glass blowing at whatever pace you feel comfortable. This is a hands on course with lots of access to hot and cold glass and lashings of fun thrown in!
The course is designed for anyone who is inspired by nature and would like to transfer that inspiration into blown glass. I will teach those with no prior knowledge of glass blowing how to gather and control the glass, apply colour and designs to the glass and translate their ideas into objects. Those with prior knowledge will concentrate on honing their skills and developing ideas while being guided by myself.
We will take creative stimulus from nature and the Turkish countryside and use this as an impetus to create beautiful objects both functional and decorative. This is a very hands on course that will maximize the hot shop time whilst utilising fine cold working techniques, including engraving, cutting and sandblasting. Each day will start with demonstrations, followed by full immersion in glass. Students get to keep all their own creations.
