PROJECT INSIGHT: Landscape Triptych Wall Lighting

Slash and Cut glass panels, LED lighting

Here’s a sneak peek of a privately commissioned lighting piece in the works at Tim Shaw Glass.

Tim’s painterly style of glass landscapes more often than not take on the shape of a vessel. For this commission however, Tim was asked to create three flat panels of glass featuring a landscape, that would then form a sculptural lighting piece in the entrance hall of a private residence.

After some careful planning and consideration (which of course ‘evolves’ along the way) each panel was created by layers of colours formed into cylinders almost 3cm thick. After cooling, these were then heated again, flattened and cooled. Now for the fun part – diamond saw here we come!

Needless to say, it’s been a pretty exciting and challenging project that is taking form. We’d love to hear your thoughts on it thus far!
